Grayscale Gives XRP a 26% Seat in Its New Advisor Portfolio

Grayscale's latest model portfolio hands financial advisors a ready-made crypto allocation, and XRP claims the second-largest weighting at 26.11% of the pie.

What happened

Grayscale rolled out a new model portfolio aimed squarely at financial advisors on Monday, and XRP landed an outsized role in it. The firm’s Digital Assets Next Gen portfolio allocates 26.11% of its weight to XRP, making the token the second-largest holding in the package. A model portfolio works like a published recipe: Grayscale selects the assets and sets the percentages, and advisors who adopt it replicate the allocation for their clients without having to build one from scratch.

That structure matters more than the headline number suggests. Model portfolios are distribution machines in traditional finance — once a product like this lands on an advisor’s platform, client capital can flow into the underlying assets automatically and at scale.

Why it matters

The weighting signals that Grayscale views XRP as core portfolio infrastructure rather than a speculative side bet. XRP has spent years rebuilding its institutional credibility following its legal battle with the SEC, and a 26% allocation from one of crypto’s most established asset managers is a meaningful vote of confidence in that rehabilitation.

It also reflects a broader shift in how legacy crypto exposure is framed. Early institutional products leaned almost entirely on Bitcoin and Ethereum. This next-generation portfolio structure leaves room for a more diverse mix, and XRP is positioned as the primary beneficiary of that expansion among large-cap alternatives.

What to watch

The real test is adoption, not announcement. Watch for which advisor platforms pick up the portfolio, whether rival issuers respond with their own multi-asset allocations, and how XRP’s market behaves if inflows from model-portfolio copycats begin to materialize. It is also worth tracking whether other altcoins earn similar weights in future rebalances — that would confirm a genuine broadening of institutional appetite rather than a one-off endorsement.
